PG LifeLink LIM Retrofit Kits: Replace the Monitor, Keep the Panel
When a line isolation monitor in an operating room fails, the usual assumption is that the whole isolated power panel has to come out. PG LifeLink's retrofit kits are built to avoid that: replace the monitor and keep the panel.
A new LIM for the panel you already have
PG LifeLink offers pre-engineered Line Isolation Monitor (LIM) retrofit kits for most makes and models of isolated power panels, and can manufacture and install retrofits for any brand or panel of any age. When the equipment is unusual, PG LifeLink will design a custom kit. Compared with replacing the entire isolated power system, a retrofit avoids the cost of a new panel.
What a typical kit includes
A new LIM with the equipment manufacturer's two-year warranty
A new wiring harness
New mounting bracket(s) and trim
Provisions for existing clock or timer controls, and a new remote annunciator, where present
An operation manual with wiring diagram
Why move from analog to digital
Many analog LIMs have outlived their life expectancy, and replacement units for older models are often discontinued. PG LifeLink points to the usual signs: a failed or damaged LIM, no replacement available, a monitor still calibrated to the old 2mA alarm point, or frequent nuisance alarms. Moving to a digital LIM keeps the system in line with NFPA 99, and PG LifeLink notes that replacing an obsolete analog LIM with digital technology reduces required testing from monthly to annual (NFPA 99 Section 6.3.4.1.4).
One visit for install and recertification
PG LifeLink's trained field service technicians can install the kit and recertify the system in the same visit, with a written test report. Inspection and testing to NFPA 99 and staff training are available as options. That matters most during an OR renovation, when the shutdown window is short and an unreliable monitor means downtime. Older shared laser and x-ray panels can also be upgraded with programmable logic control for automatic receptacle selection.
